History of the Port of Bar
March 1905.

From the yacht ''Rumija'' the corner stone of the Port was allocated into the sea.

27 th of June, 1906.

The contract concluded between the Montenegrin Ministry of Finance and President of the Association of Bar on ''construction and expoatation of the free Port of Bar with additional free Bar mooring and adit Free zone and a railway from Pristan to the Skadar Lake as well as on sailing of motorized vessels on the Skadar Lake''.
In the First World War, the Port of Bar suffered damage due to bombardment of Austrian warships. After the First World War the Port of Bar stays out of the trade routes and regular shipping lines have been avoiding it and the Association of Bar has been charging high fees for moorage of the boats in the Port.

Year 1926.

In Pristan it was founded 'Maritime lines of Bar " using the Port as its parent port.

Year 1943.

German military forces entered the Port and leaving it they undermined little quay so called " Old quay" in spring 1943. Terminated the Second World War the reconstruction of the Port starts.

By final routing determination of railway line from Belgrade to Bar it was also defined the future development of the Bar and its port in 1950.

Year 1952.

Modern port construction program has been adopted and the works began in same year.

Year 1960.

The Port was opened to international traffic and the border crossing was formed in it together with the Commission for control of the international passenger traffic in the maritime transport.

15th of June, 1965.

It was established a regular passenger line from Bari.
In the same year the construction of the first phase of the Port with the handling capacity of 1.2 million tons was completed.

Year 1971.

Construction of the second phase of the Port started; designed for the capacity of 5 million tons.

15th of April, 1979.

An earthquake destroyed a great deal of the Port facilities, particularly those built in the first phase in the old, traditional way.

March 1981.

Recovery and reconstruction of facilities were started and completed two years later.

Year 1992.

UN impose sanctions against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia which is dramatically reflected on the Port activities.

November 1995.

Sanctions were suspended and vessels arrived back in the Port.

February 1998.

The "Port of Bar" is transformed to the joint stock company.

1st of October, 2009.

The process of restructuring was completed. The "Container terminal and general cargo" was dissociated from the "Port of Bar" as well as the following three limited liability companies, 100 percent owned by the "Port of Bar" JSC: Security and fire protection, Maritime Affairs and IT and Communications.

1st of April, 2010.

Hotel 'Sidro' ltd was dissociated from the "Port of Bar".

December 2011.

A procurement of "Liebherr LHM 550" mobile crane of 144 tons capacity

September 2020.

A procurement of "Liebherr LHM 420" mobile crane of 124 tons capacity

March 2021.

It has begun repair of construction of operational coast Volujica
