SUPERALFUEL
Project description
Project name: Sustainability of Alternative fuels in the ADRION area
EU Program: Interreg IPA Adriatic Ionian ADRION
Program priority: Support to a carbon neutral and better connected Adriatic-Ionian region
Leading partner: National Center for Scientific Research "DEMOKRITOS" (Greece)
Project duration: 36 months
Project budget: 1,378,848.70
IPAII co-financing: 1,172,021.39 (85%)
The SUPERALFUEL project aims to provide a harmonized framework to support the introduction of hydrogen, ammonia and methanol as environmentally friendly, low-carbon fuels for ship propulsion and cargo transport in ports. The results of this project will help the integration of transport/mobility services into environmentally friendly modes of transport, reducing CO2 emissions in ports and inland waterways in ADRION areas in the future.
SUPERALFUEL will support the transition from high to low carbon environmentally friendly fuels, providing guidance, tools and knowledge bases to avoid environmental risk.
The project also foresees training for each partner in order to increase the capacities and knowledge in this area and so that the ports would be ready to respond to the challenges that such a transition would require.
Through this project, the Port of Bar will be involved in the development of methodologies in the port to improve safety during the transshipment of specific cargo such as hydrogen, ammonia and methanol.
