Planning Documentation

Spatial plan of special purpose for the coastal area of Montenegro adopted in 2018. provides the basis for the realization of investment projects in the area of the Port of Bar Free Zone. You can view the spatial plan HERE.

Development Projects

The Port of Bar is continuously developing through various projects that improve our infrastructure and services. We are focused on improving efficiency and capacity to meet the needs of our customers and the market.

1. New liquid cargo
terminal

The existing urban plan of the port envisages the construction of a new terminal in the Bigovica Bay area (marked with a red ellipse). The concept included in the Urban Plan of the port envisages the construction of a complete new infrastructure - a new breakwater, coast, roads, new tanks with a capacity of 250,000 m3, a new tunnel through the Volujica hill and a new loading and unloading station for wagons and trucks, etc.

5. Construction of a closed warehouse at the terminal for dry bulk cargo

Construction of a closed warehouse (150m x 50m) with a movable roof.
The new warehouse will provide an optimal degree of protection of the stored cargo from atmospheric influences (protection against exceeding the permitted moisture content in the cargo) and dust emission from the stored cargo will be eliminated with a positive effect on environmental protection.

2. Extension of the coast at the passenger terminal

The extension of the quay at the Passenger Terminal will improve port accessibility with a focus on medium/large Ro-Pax vessels (larger draft) and cruise ships in the Port of Bar. The dimensions of the new part of the coast are: length – 432.85 m; Width: 30.00 m.

6. Construction of a closed warehouse

Construction of a closed warehouse (120m x 50m) for the storage of various types of cargo.

3. Expansion of the shore of Volujica at the dry bulk cargo terminal

Expansion of the Volujica waterfront (166 x 30m) and a new open work area (166 x 50m) at the dry bulk terminal.

7. Development of handling technologies
by load

Development/improvement of cargo technologies with dry bulk and general cargo in accordance with the relevant criteria

4. The second phase of grain silos

Construction of a new grain silo with a capacity of 30,000 tons; (new grain silo will increase storage capacity to 60,000 tons)
Upgrading of existing capacities/equipment for grain handling

8. Development of new IT services

The Port Community System (PCS) was developed in 2014 (updated in 2015 and 2016) and PCS complies with EU Directive 65/2010. Preparation for the Maritime Single Window.
