Project duration: 36 months
Project budget: 1,544,800.00
IPAII co-financing: 1,313,080.00
The WATERBRIDGING project aims to improve the sustainability and integration of maritime and inland waterways connecting the Adriatic-Ionian region, in order to improve the overall waterway transport as an efficient and smart alternative to land transport.
WATERBRIDING offers an increase in the efficiency of waterways as a bridge for traffic flows between the territories of the macroregion as well as towards wider areas, first of all, by improving the ecological and digital performance of shipping and the hubs involved.
The project aims to overcome common challenges such as the disruption of the logistics transport chain and the still limited application of ecological approaches that hinder the creation of a seamless, coordinated and competitive transport system. The integration of real-time based digital services and data collection is a prerequisite for reducing the fragmentation of the entire logistics chain. The exploitation of alternative fuels and technologies for the supply of electricity on land, the greening of shipping is a common challenge that should be faced together in order to contribute to the environmental goals of the EU's Green Deal and transport policies.
